The Bulu, a Southern Cameroon people, belong to the Beti-Fang group, well-known for having developed a magnificent statuary for the worship of their ancestors, especially the Ngumba, the Ntumu and the Betsi. Since the 1920's or 1930's, in the southern region of Neyong, some travellers or colonial officers have collected small curious animal sculptures depicting chimpanzees, mandrills or gorillas.
